Now Available: Lessons Learned on the Road to Student Civic Engagement

"I have always had a drive to serve others and work for the common good. But I never fully realized that I could go beyond volunteerism, that my opinion and hard work could influence policy decisions. My views changed when I sat in the office of one of my legislators in Washington, DC, as part of a group of Maine students on an alternative break trip."

Amanda Coffin, University of Maine at Farmington, in Lessons Learned on the Road to Student Civic Engagement (Campus Compact, 2006)
Welcome to the Raise Your Voice Campaign, an initiative of Campus Compact that has connected over 300,000 students across the country on over 450 campuses to support student civic engagement and address public issues crucial to our democracy.

This site is dedicated to connecting, challenging, and supporting college and university students in community work, activism, leadership, and civic growth. Here you will find practical information, ideas, and resources, as well as a forum for sharing ideas.

Students from across the country and Raise Your Voice staff gather in Chicago in June 2004 to look back at what they’ve learned about student civic engagement and higher education.

These resources will enable you to use your voice and power to find solutions for issues that are important to you on your campus and in your community. Raise Your Voice is also focused on embedding student-community work into the culture of campuses so that campuses become active in community life.

This campaign has a clear message: Change starts with you. Act today to create the world you want to live in tomorrow.

This site was developed by students and for students. We want to continue to improve and update the resources provided here. So, PLEASE contact us with your suggestions.
